EMPLOYMENT LAW ATTORNEY

A Trusted Advisor and Strategic Partner

Managing employees while minimizing legal risks is a challenge faced by all businesses. Navigating these challenges requires specialized legal experience, business acumen and dedication to understanding the particular needs and goals of your business. With nearly two decades of in-house employment law experience I am adept at devising practical solutions to human resource challenges while minimizing risks. I provide the day-to-day counseling, preventive strategies, and training businesses need to get the most from their employees and avoid legal risk.

Lightening the Load of Busy
Organizations of All Sizes

Many businesses rely on traditional law firms for assistance navigating HR pitfalls, or worse, go without counsel and unwittingly expose the company to legal risk and litigation. My passion is efficiently and effectively assisting organizations on daily HR legal issues that arise frequently – and occasionally can cause much disruption and distraction. I assist enterprises large and small with a wide range of employment law issues at a fraction of the cost of a traditional law firm, using a pragmatic approach honed over years of in-house experience. Available services include assistance with employee handbooks, policies, and procedures; advice on sensitive disciplinary matters, leaves of absence, and terminations; conducting internal investigations; and defending state and federal agency claims.

An Extra Pair of Hands for Corporate Legal Departments

For busy in-house legal departments, I am uniquely positioned to assist with overflow work. Many times as a legal department faces spikes in work – for example due to a major transaction or litigation or because the business is growing beyond its legal team’s existing capacity – the internal legal team will require an extra pair of hands. Turning to a traditional law firm can be expensive and impractical. I offer a cost-efficient, impactful alternative to traditional law firms for legal department overflow work. From nearly two decades of in-house experience with global companies, I have a deep understanding of the operational requirements of human resource functions and management. Your internal HR clients will appreciate my collaborative approach and the hands-on pragmatic legal advice I provide to achieve the desired business outcome.

The Employment Law Specialist for Smaller Legal Departments & Mid-Size Businesses

For companies with a solo general counsel or small legal team, or no internal counsel function at all, I offer a seasoned, informed, and pragmatic perspective on HR best practices and compliance matters. I’m available as a sounding board to internal counsel, or as a trusted resource to put in touch with your human resource clients for hands-on pragmatic guidance and counsel. For more complex matters requiring a larger legal team, such as an active litigation or regulatory investigation, I’m available to serve as an independent advisor sharing insights from my vast experience selecting and managing large law firms as an in-house attorney.

Compliance and Human Resource Legal Advice, Training and Investigations

Laws and regulations can present a complex maze for human resources and business leadership to navigate – but non-compliance isn’t an option. I provide organizations with up-to-date guidance on key compliance areas, including anti-harassment policies, anti-retaliation policies, disciplinary policies, leaves of absence, hiring, terminations, and performance management. I am available to conduct engaging, interactive training to employees, managers, and human resource teams. In the event an employee complaint arises, I am available to advise the HR team on its investigation behind the scenes, or alternatively serve as a neutral third party investigator.
